Poet and author Alicia Bayer wrote that
she started her sweet and unique website "because
everywhere I look I see books, toys and sites designed to make
kids smarter, but almost nothing to make them happier."
As a remedy, she has gathered an impressive collection of
thoughtful, insightful articles, unusual and easy craft ideas,
and selections of her own lovely poems celebrating the joy of
mothering.
Alicia writes that she created the website as
"something I do solely for the love of children. I have
poetry, articles ranging from humorous breastfeeding stories
to a defense of toddlers, from an insight into how to be their
allies, to archived newsletters which include such topics as
'10 ways to make the day magical.' It is a place where I share
my devotion to giving children truly magical childhoods. I try
to deal with the realities of life, too, however. I write
about how to protect children from sexual abuse, how to take
care of yourself, and how to balance the tragedies of our
world with our desires to insulate our children from
harm."
This is a timely and very interesting site with a good
balance between thought-provoking ideas and useful, practical
suggestions. Visitors can learn how to beat the blahs, eat out
with toddlers, make a dragon, and even hypnotize a chicken! Be
sure not to miss the heartfelt "Coping with
Crying.", the thoughtful "Learning from Baby"
and the very useful "Bath Time as a Parenting Tool".
We are happy to have discovered this most unique site, and
hope you will visit soon.
I want our
laughter and stories
to be so tangled
that our memories weave into one dream.
