Connections, a bimonthly online magazine on
unschooling and mindful parenting, is "dedicated to keeping
readers thoughtfully informed about topics relevant to unschoolers
of all ages".
Created in May 2006 by Maryland unschooler
Danielle Conger, the ezine features several regular columns by
unschoolers, including "Ask Rue" (written by Rue Kream,
author of Raising a Free Child), "Mouth Off"
(written by unschooling children), "Snapshots"
(inspiring photography of unschooling in action), "Readers
Speak", resources and reviews. Each issue also offers
additional articles written by parents from around the world, as
well as interviews with unschooling authors; new features are
planned. A quick guide to current topics of interest in several
unschooling lists is especially useful. In the current issue,
"Encouraging Creativity", and "Ask Rue" (on
housework) are must-read gems.
Subscriptions are $10 per year for six
issues, and include all current and archived contents. A one-year
subscription is given to all writers whose articles are posted. A
sample issue and a table of contents for each previous issue are
available free online.
This relatively new yet already
comprehensive ezine is sure to encourage more families to look at
learning in a fresh and natural way.
